a few topics for you to consider

1) The Seattle Mariners
For once i am glad to live in a city where every professional sports team chokes in the second half of the season ... then chokes even harder in the last 3 weeks. all year it's looked like the mariners were going to go to the playoffs, and perhaps the world series, thereby ruining my commute all the way into the latest reaches of october. thanks to the crappiness of seattle sports, traffic has been pleasantly light ever since the mariners final weekday home game last friday. screw the mariners ... and the sonics too for that matter. move them both to seatac ... please. since when is it a good practice to have 3 professional sports teams play games in the heart of a major metropolitan city with the worst transportation problems in the country? retarded.

2) greg nickels
i heard a news story on the radio this morning about greg nickels (mayor of seattle) plan for getting out of the cities recession. blah blah blah, numbers money, boring ... then he touted a bunch of ways he was going to make the city better with credit card parking meters and he re-emphasised his pot hole filling hotline. thats all well and good, but he could have left out his stupid rhymes and general infomercial dumbness. in reference to pot holes: "call 684-ROAD. we'll drill 'em and fill 'em. I guarantee it." apparently greg nickels went to flynn's carpet cents school of public speaking. i just wonder when he's going to start wearing fat mans hawaiian shirts and blathering on about snap together laminent ... its really too bad a decent picture of flynn is so hard to find. that guy is awesome ... and the sole reason i know lauren.

3) george w bush
i heard that greg nickels thing on one of those local station news breaks on npr. then national npr came back on and started talking about the burgeoning white house scandal. it is beyond me how george bush is the president and isnt being torn to shreds by the public. his whole administration does business with this huge sense of self assured arrogance. bush approaches his job like someone who won the presidency by a landslide rather than a guy who was appointed by the supreme court after losing the popular vote ... and quite handily i might add. in 3 years bush has withdrawn from the kyoto protocol, abolished the ABM treaty, started 2 wars we can't win, gave the soldiers fighting those wars a pay cut, crippled the economy, he's lost more jobs than any president since the depression, he turned our economic surplus into a recession, he defied the UN, he alienated our allies in europe, he poured money into national missile defence and, even when you cast all of that aside, the fucker still can't even make it through a speech without fucking it up. dont we live in a country where all the presidents elected in a year that ends with zero are supposed to die in office? what happened to that? hello? Tecumseh? its time to quit sleeping on this one buddy. do us all a favor.

... ok, so reagan was elected in a zero year and lived, but lets not forget that there was an assassination attempt. he did also sleep through most of his term and now he's a vegetable. so we can pretty much chalk that one up to "wasn't really the president anyway" ... i guess thats probably the case with bush too though. fucker.
