Macaroni.
I just saw Me and You and Everyone We Know. It was definitely very "independent film," but it was also really great. I think it has the potential to be one of those little indy movies that tons of people end up seeing just because of word of mouth. It was a bit like Napoleon Dynamite in it's akwardness, but way more smutty. "EMAIL WOULDN'T EXIST WITHOUT AIDS!" My descriptions of things suck. Go see it.

When we were standing in line to buy tickets there were all these dudes standing in a "freedom of speech zone" protesting the movie theater because apparently Cable Vision doesn't pay their projectionists a fair wage. We were accused of being "Cable Vision People." "I thought people in this neighborhood didn't like shady corporations like this. You're SUPPORTING Cable Vision by buying a ticket. It's an embarrassment!" "Uh ... I support Cable Vision every time I pay for cable. Shut up and let me watch a damn movie in peace." You can't blame a guy for being on strike though I guess. It's like people here haven't accepted the fact that America is all about corporations screwing everyone. I also had to wonder why these projectionists were so willing to drag down the theater where ticket takers, ushers, concessions people and all the rest of the theater staff were still currently employed. Are they not "the working man" too? It seems to me that Cable Vision is screwing the projectionists who are in turn helping to screw everyone else. And that the projectionists union kinda sucks ... shouldn't they have negotiated for the rest of the employees to strike too? Nobody gives a shit if 5 people who work at a 3 screen theater are getting screwed when the movies are still playing ... Right? Sure it sucks, but that's reality. Maybe you shouldn't have made "movie projectionist" your lifes work. Seems like ending up standing out in the rain harassing movie patrons because you don't like what you're getting paid is a pretty likely outcome. And the theater I was sitting in was still markedly full considering it was a Monday night.

The system sucks. That's why there is punk rock. C'est la vie. Hug a movie projectionist. They are your brothers.
