America is a funny place. For the past few years a storm has been brewing for the president. This whole Valerie Plame investigation has been dogging him, always nipping at his heels. The day that indictments would come has been all but inevitable.
A few weeks ago Bush nominated a woman to the supreme court who, aside from being woefully underqualified, was obviously only chosen for the job because of her close relationship with the president. Collectively, the whole country kind of went, "WTF?"
Last thursday news broke that Dick Cheney's closest aide, Scooter Libby was being indicted for leaking the name of an undercover CIA agent.
Mysteriously, and almost in sync with the indictments, Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination for the Supreme Court.
Monday morning Bush announced his new nominee for the Supreme Court; a crazy fundevangelist.
Divide and conquer indeed.
If you can't focus 100% on indicting the entire White House cabinet, it probably wont happen. If you can't focus 100% on keeping a good-ol-boy extremist off the Supreme Court, he'll probably get on.
Go politics.
