RJD2
so i'm listening to this record ... actually its a bunch of mp3s that were ripped from the record and then recompiled into the track list of the record ... regardless. its a good record, but i cant help but notice that this guy does a fair amount of ripping people off.
The Chicken Bone Circuit sounds like it was lifted DIRECTLY from Dj Shadows Endtroducing. there are a lot of other places where he leans heavy on the Dj Shadow sound. Then you break into the song
Two More Dead and it sounds like he suddenly put in Dan the Automator and lifted stuff directly from him. so basically this record sounds like what might happen if you put Dj Shadows 'Endtroducing', 'PreEmptive Strike' and 'Private Press' in a CD player with Dan the Automators 'a much better tomorrow', 'Deltron 3030', 'handsome boy modeling school' and 'lovage' -- although with no mike patton (a shame really) -- and put it on random play. i really like this RJD2 stuff, but he needs to develop more of his own sound. this is the problem with most music. people dont pay enough attention to developing a voice and end up just sounding like hack versions of other people.
in other mike patton news ... he's amazing when he sings for the dillinger escape plan. the songs i've heard arent that great in places, but in the places that they are great, they are freaking AMAZING. the end of 'when good dogs do bad things' where he starts talking in that low mike patton voice over the fast guitar muting ... it's wicked pisser dude. the end of that song basically just rules. the beginning; not so much.
ok ... back to pretending to work.
i just realized that if you sing 'the right stuff' by New Kids on the Block ... the "oh oh ah ooh oh" part ... and substitute Oh-mer-tah where 'the right stuff' should go, you have something marginally amuzing. ok ... tim is probably the only person that will laugh at that and only because it's so dumb. stop being such an uppity bitch nate, its funny.
