MY CONTRACT WITH AMERICA
We are fighting a war on terrorists. This is scary, scary, scary work. Don't forget that. We should all be scared all the time. Just be complacent and unquestioning and things will be fine. The military will take care of everything. As long as you don't speak up, raise questions or step out of line, you'll hardly even notice.

The environment, civil rights, womens rights, the poor, the economy, jobs, world opinion, media ownership, deregulation, nuclear proliferation, the UN, NATO, the Geneva Conventions, the International Court, personal freedom and any other issues that don't benefit the arms industry are no longer relevant public issues. War. That's all we're concerned with. Who we're killing and who we're about to kill is all we should be thinking about. Don't let people tell you that we can't bomb our way to a peaceful democratic world. It's just not true. Violence is the number one most effective way to achieve peace. Everyone knows people are way more likely to cooperate when you oppress and occupy them as brutally and sysematically as possible. Don't read read the foreign press, look at anything objectively or question anything the U.S. does or your patriotism will be questioned. Maybe you'll be charged with treason, or, if you're brown, you'll get an all expenses paid trip to Guantanamo Bay Cuba for a flourescent light colonoscopy.

This is the new America. Get in line or fight us. If you don't like the way this country does business, find a new planet to live on ... One we don't own.

There's some great convention coverage here and here.
