Iraq
so it looks like the US led "liberation" of Iraq is on the fast track to going to shit. Now ... maybe I'm crazy, but if you're a country who invades another country and are then met with huge popular uprisings that you then say you must "put down," doesn't that mean you're
conquering those people? I mean ... When the allies overthrew Hitler and liberated Germany, German people didn't take to the streets killing American troops, did they? Uh, no. This isn't a war to free oppressed people, this is a war for economic and strategic advantage. People say that it's not fair to compare this war to Vietnam, but when you take into account the fact that both countries were all but defensless, posed absolutely no threat to the US, provide strategic and economic benefit to the US, and that the populations of both really didn't/don't want us there, I'd say the comparison is perfectly fair.
If this is what America is about, I'm not an American.
Every one of us should be ashamed. Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism except that it's giving organizations like al-Qaida a huge hand in recruiting more pissed off people who want to take the United States down a few pegs. But hey, don't take my word for the fact that Iraq had no link to al-Qaida,
Colin Powells should do just fine.
