French Pedicures are Ugly
When you live in Seattle and summer time comes, you see a lot of horrible things. Mostly there are lots of ugly fat people baring too much skin, but girls here make some big mistakes when it comes to the sun. Like mistaking the concept of "summer clothes" with "clothes that make you look like a whore." There's a lot of that. Platform flip-flops, poorly selected shorts, those skank sunglasses ... the list goes on. The worst thing females do when it gets nice out, however, is rocking the french pedicure. Newsflash ladies: FRENCH PEDICURES ARE FUCKING GROSS. Seriously, I can see how this might seem like a good idea at first, but I promise you, it's not. 99.9999% of the population of the planet cannot pull off the french pedicure. It's ugly. It makes you look like a whore. It makes your toe-nails look super long, which is inherently gross since toe-nails are just about the grossest thing ever. Worse still, if you have ugly feet to begin with, the french pedicure just magnifies the ugliness of your feet. It draws attention to the way your toe-nails are not uniform and the fact that your feet are mis-shapen. If you are a girl, cut your toe-nails short, paint 'em if you want to, but steer clear of the french pedicure. You're blowing it if you get one. They're trashy.
... ugly.
Christopher Hitchens gets called out
There's a great
article in the New York Press about Christopher Hitchens and the
article he wrote for Slate about Fahrenheit 911. The NYP article makes a lot of the points I wish more people would make about the whole F911 "scandal," and the press in general. David Edelstein wrote a
really great review of the movie that makes even more great points about it. The NYP article basically contends, fairly I think, that ALL journalists are cowards. That's why so few people rock the boat, ask tough questions, or take any kind of journalistic stand. Michael Moore has such an impact because he's willing to stick his neck out and say what others wont. blah blah ...
just read it.
Noam Chomskys Blog
I don't check
the Chomskers blog all that often, but I did today and there's some great stuff in there. He speaks briefly about
peak oil,
Independant Iraq,
Iran's threat, and even
Turkey (the country, not the bird). I like Noam Chomsky, I don't care what anyone says. When the mainstream press begins actively and objectively reporting both sides of every story, I'll stop listening to what he has to say. Until then ...
There's a good
article about climate change in the Nation too.
