New Books
I finished reading
The Catcher in the Rye the other day. That book was great. I'd suggest that anyone read it. It's super short, it's super entertaining and it's got one of the best endings ever. Should I just give it away right now? yeah. I think I will. It's basically: "I could tell you more, but I really don't feel like it." so rad.
Another really short book you should go out and read is
Screwjack by Hunter S. Thompson. I
really don't understand what the hell is wrong with people who use Amazon.com. The customer reviews of this book are SO very wrong. 3 stars?!?! What the hell?!?! This is probably my favorite thing Hunter Thompson has written. It's way short and better than ... I don't know ... 12 of Baskin Robbins 31 flavors. I used to have a copy of it, given to me by the illustrious Stephen Nathanael Scott, but I have no clue where the hell it is anymore. I'm pretty sure I loaned it to someone, they realized the greatness of the book they were in possession of and then they kept it. Actually, I think Nate has it. Maybe not. Who knows? Oh well. Books are made to be passed around, so whatever.
Now I'm about a quarter of the way through
Pigs at the Trough, which is basically just Arianna Huffington laying waste to the idea that unregulated capitalism is a good idea. So far it's basically just her going on and on and on and on listing off more examples of greed and corruption than I can even count. It's pretty good, but it's not like anyone who remembers the various Enron/Worldcom/Tyco/Kmart/Martha Stewart/Imclone scandals needs to really read every last detail about what exactly went on to know that there's quite a surplus of rich and powerful shit heads hanging around.
Honest Abe
Abraham Lincoln Killing Machine practiced once again last night. I'm so stoked on this band. It's straight up five chord punk rock. Amazing. I think it's somewhere between crust punk and thrash metal. Maybe. Maybe it's just straight up punk rock. Whatever. All I know is that we've practiced 3 times and we have 6 songs done. Yeah, it's like that. People are either going to love this stuff or hate it with a passion. I bet Crazy Joe will be stoked. I'll dress up like a slurpee just to make sure.
... I still think that
picture of the Olsen twins is way hot. Maybe it's fake. Who cares? Not me. You could super-impose Wilford Brimley and Bea Arthurs faces on that picture and it would still be hot. (Don't quote me on that)
I'm listening to Lynyrd Sknynyrd right now. This is only one of 2 bands ever to come out of Florida and not blow dicks.
"Gimme back my bullets"
That stupid Bush quote from yesterday has gotten quite a bit of press. That seems silly to me since that dumb ass says all kinds of dumb ass stuff all the time. People should quit wasting their energy being pissed about that kind of stuff and just get rid of the guy November 2nd (Republicans vote November 4th).
Oh yeah, and George, you're in big trouble now. Now you've got The Boss out
gunnin' for your ass. So awesome.
Work should be optional. For real.
You stay classy San Diego.
